It depends upon how fast your plants are using the nutrient and there are many variables in that. Best way to measure is to use EC meter and keep a daily log of measurements.

When my plants are really growing fast, I change every week. When growing slowly, every two weeks. My system is aeroponic

Orchid,
It is our recommendation that your nutrient solution be changed once weekly.
Flushing with plain water for 24 hrs every two weeks is also a good idea.
Thank you for your continued support.

I am setting up an ebb and flow system, about 10-15 gal. in the res.

I'd like to flush in between nutrient changes and/or every two weeks as suggested. I plan on keeping water in a separate container for when I change the nutrient water, however for flushing, what would be the impact on the system if I use straight tap water, chlorinated, not ph adjusted, to flush the system? Do you think this matters, or, would the water need to be dechlorinated and ph adjusted, just like i would do for my nutrient water?

I'm just trying to gauge how much effort needs to be put into flushing the system, as my spare container will barely hold enough water (letting it sit out to dechlorinate) for one nutrient change -- not enough water for both a nutrient change AND a flush.

Thanks!

Plantboy,

It is likely that flushing with tap water will have little or no negative effect on your plants. This however will depend on the condition of your tap water and the duration of your flushing; the worse off your tap water is and the longer you run it through your system, the greater the likelihood of you doing damage to your plants. As you know, it is always best for your plants to use both non chlorinated and pH adjusted water.
