when using premier pro-mix bx with organic fertilizers you need to add dolomite lime to balance the ph. Do I still need to add lime when using only recipe for success. how about adding supplements like guano, earth worm castings, blood, bone or kelp meals. Ive used recipe for success in hydro setup and grew some Beautiful plants. Im thinking lime in my media and feed, water, water, feed with RFS is all I need to grow amazing plants.

There should be no need to add lime to your medium when using the Recipe For Success formulations.
Any medium you choose to use should not require lime adjustments to make it suitable for use, if it does, choose another medium.
Our favourite soil-like medium is Sunshine Mix #4.
Thank you for your continued support.

Hi,

When using sunshine#4 as my medium and fertilizing with B.C. nutrients, should I adjust the ph of the vegetative formula to 6.5 or should I adjust to the suggested ph of 6.08, as specified on the instruction sheet for the recipe for success?

I have read many times that the ph range for soil is 6.5-7.0 and that the hydroponic range is 5.5-6.2. The fact that SS#4 is a soilless medium leads me to believe that I should adjust to the hydroponic ph range of 5.5-6.2. However, SS#4 looks and acts similar to soil despite me knowing that it is comprised mostly of peat and perlite, which leads me to believe that I should adjust to the soil ph range of 6.5-7.0.

What should the ph of the vegetative formula be when I feed my plants that are planted in ss#4? 6.5-7.5 or 5.5-6.2?
thanks.

The correct range of your mixed nutrient solution when applying it the SS-Mix #4 is in the range of 5.8 - 6.2
Thanks for your question.
